Michael and Holly were down visiting Mom about a month ago, and they had just finished singing some songs to her when I arrived at her room. Mom was having a pretty clear-headed day, and we were able to converse with her, and she was able to keep the conversation going. At one point Mom took a dark breath and sighed about "how hard it was". Holly took Mom's frail hand in her own, and spoke to her about how easy it was going to be soon. I think Holly said something like "It will be better soon Dorothy, as soon as you let go. Let go so you can be with your parents and finally be home". Mom looked at her and asked her with suprizing clarity "Is it hard?" Holly reassured her that it was not too hard. Dorothy had a puzzled look on her face for a moment, and then asked "why don't you go for me?"
